So Close to My Heart, Sweetheart!

Sweetheart jewelry to me is like Mourning jewelry is to other avid collectors. Sweetheart jewelry came in various forms and times in history. Some pieces were mass produced while others were handmade. Many times sweetheart jewelry was made from non precious metals such as celluloid, wood, and plastics while precious metals were preserved to support the war efforts. As well, a wide range of jewelry items and designs were produced; from Victory Pins and Lockets to GI Metals. Sweetheart jewelry is the thrifting find that makes my tummy fill with butterflies.

Was it her brother, husband, fiancé, or son who went off to war? Did he ever make it back home? These are the first two thoughts I ponder when wearing sweetheart jewelry so close to my heart.

Donations of Love and Support!

I have an 11 year old son myself and after reading about this tragedy on Etsy, I hugged my son just a little tighter today. If you feel compelled to help this fellow Etsian, there are several ways to donate by checking out the links I've provided here. This mother needs to know that people care and that her community of friends are reaching out to her in such a horrible time of sorrow and pain.
